Privacy Policy
Last updated 28 October 2026
This policy explains what Flagella collects when you use the app and website, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. We handle personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
What we collect
- Your account: name, username, email address, password (stored by our sign-in provider, never by us in plain text), and for business accounts the business name.
- Your profile: photos, bio, social links, and for vendors the business email, phone number, location, service area, portfolio and prices you choose to add.
- Verification: if you ask to be verified as a vendor or host, the ID type and number, registration numbers and the photos of documents and your face that you send. Only you and our reviewing staff can see these.
- Events and tickets: events you host, their guest lists and invitations, tickets you hold, check-ins, meal choices, payment status and any payment screenshot you upload for the host.
- Payment details you enter: a host’s bank details or payment link for their guests, and a vendor’s bank details for their fees. We don’t process card payments.
- What you share: posts, comments, likes, chat messages, photos, files, voice notes, polls, ratings, reviews and survey answers.
- Safety: reports you make and people you block.
- Device: a notification token so we can send you push notifications, and your phone type.
We don’t use advertising trackers, and we don’t sell your personal data.
Why we use it
- To run Flagella: your account, events, tickets, chats and notifications. This is needed to provide the service you signed up for.
- To keep people safe: reviewing reports, verifying vendors and hosts, and stopping misuse. This is in our and our users’ legitimate interests.
- To email you about your tickets and account: a new ticket, an event that’s cancelled or moved, a payment confirmed or not, a verification result and a deleted account. These are part of the service, not marketing.
- To email people a host invited who don’t have an account yet, so they can join.
- To meet legal obligations.
Who can see it
- Everyone on Flagella can see public profiles, public events and their posts.
- Hosts see the names, ticket and payment status, check-ins and meal choices of their guests, and the details vendors send when asking to work their events. Hosts can export their guest list.
- Chat members see the messages in chats they belong to.
- Our staff see verification documents they review and content that’s been reported.
- Service providers: Google Firebase stores and processes our data (sign-in, database, file storage, server functions, push notifications and hosting), and Brevo sends our emails. They act on our instructions. Your data may be stored on servers outside Nigeria, with safeguards as the law requires.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photos, verification documents, tickets, ratings and account data, along with any events you host. Some things stay because others rely on them, such as messages you sent in group chats, or records we must keep by law, for as long as needed.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile, delete your posts and messages, and block people in the app.
- Turn off notifications in your phone’s settings, or mute single chats.
- Delete your account from your profile’s menu.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, to correct or delete it, to object to or limit how we use it, or to move it elsewhere, by writing to support@flagella-x.com. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Security
Data travels encrypted, and access rules limit each piece of data to the people who should see it. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and tell us if you notice anything wrong.
Children
Flagella is for people aged 18 and over, or younger people using it with a parent’s or guardian’s permission. If you think a child has given us data without that permission, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
We’ll update this page when our practices change, and tell you in the app about significant changes.
